I always thought Luke was the Podge Cast Mom.
I don't like twitter either but I also don't like facebook anymore, all for personal reasons. Mostly for twitter I just don't care enough to track people down. I'd rather waste my time doing something useless then spend any amount of time on twitter. I don't know enough about Twitter but if there was like a sub-twitter community or something where I could click one button and follow everyone in that sub-community I would more then likely follow it.
I like forums. I am surprised myself that i still do. I am Dyslexic and things like spelling and sentence structure and what not are things I have a hard time with. example I see d's as b's and b's as d's all the time. I have been laughed off of more then one forum for people thinking I'm retarded or a troll.
I see twitter as the conversation and forums as the library. Currently i just have too many things going on to stop and listen to that conversation. To be honest right now its not a conversation I'm even interested in. On the other hand sometimes I do have time to come to the forum and look at all the old posts and read other peoples long winded ideas. I can check an idea out give it to my friends let them read it. Not saying i can not do that with twitter its just easier with the forum, for me. Plus I started writing this the other day and am now just finishing it up this morning.
I still do come here every once and awhile but I'm not as active because I gave up on gaming for now. It's mostly the player pool in my area. They don't like the types of games i do and i don't enjoy combat all the time every game session. My last game was 5 games 4 hours long we had one combat. People dropped after that cause there was not enough combat and to much talking. so what the hell I'm done until i move. I have been living vicariously with the Podge Cast to get my gaming fix.
my 2 cents. I do see forums in building a loyal fan base, keeping a game, a cast, 'fill in the blank' going strong. I think forums let people get to know each other better then say 140 character post from twitter. I do think twitter is better for the conversation. Limited space say what you mean and it is insta cast to everyone that follows allowing for more quicker communication. I do think that some could fill the needs better what that is well i don't know enough to really say.
