Hey, everyone! The editing on our sophomore effort is a leeeeeeetle rough with some echo that we haven't ironed out but I wanted to get this one in people's hands before I chloroformed Spazz, nailed him in a crate, and shipped him off to MonCon. Please don't tell him that traveling this way isn't "business class." So, although I'm sad that I can't join you all at MonCon if you load this on your music players at least part of me can be there in spirit and Spazz will be representing the Great White North in full force!

« on: May 08, 2011, 07:53:33 AM »
Holy moly... it's been more than a YEAR since I've posted an episode. But, the podcasting bug has bitten me again thanks to my good friend and now co-host: Spazz Fist! We're going to be doing a series of episodes released on the Wapcaplets feed dedicated to our favourite game: Monsterpocalypse! So sit back and relax as the sounds of Monster Island infect your brain-waves.

Announcements / Wapcaplets: Back on the air
« on: May 08, 2011, 07:52:00 AM »
Holy crap, does a year go by fast. I've started recording again with a pretty significant format change. My buddy Spazz and I are big enthusiasts of the Monsterpocalypse miniatures game and we're going to be doing an indefinite series of episodes focused on it. This line of shows is going to be called "Monster Island" but since I've already paid for the hosting, got iTunes set up, and all that jazz it's just easier to release it on the Wapcaplets feed. Please take a listen and let me know what you think. It's good to be recording again.

Just played Jim's Norse. I think I'm done with league play until they get some bugs fixed. This is the second league game I've played and the second time the after-game results have fucked up. In the first game (not this league) none of the SPPs earned by myself or my opponent were recorded. In the game I just played with Jim I actually got a new Rotter via Nurgle's Rot but it didn't put it on my roster after I "hired" it.

It's complete bull-shit that the listeners in this community haven't come up with $500 to help David meet his goal for MS fund raising. So far only two people have donated for a grand total of $75. Unbelievable. If 85 people gave $5 each this goal would be met. Value-for-value people. Click below and make it happen:

Media Review / Re: Fucking Lost (Now With Spoilers)
« on: May 29, 2010, 04:25:42 AM »
The wife and I finally got around to watching the finale last night. If I had to sum up the final season in one word it would be "unsatisfying." Lost started out as a cool mystery but it turned into therapy sessions. By the end I had seen all of the main characters' constipated crying face so many times I couldn't even take them seriously anymore. I wanted to know what made the island tick, not that the characters were all spiritually "OK." I wanted to bail on Lost as soon as time travel showed up but kept with it because it's the only show my wife and I watched together. Now that it's over we both feel like we wasted our time.

If you were a 1000 TV team and you played an 1800 TV team, would you have fun? They'd take you apart and leave your corpse on the pitch.

The right of refusal rule is poorly worded. Since there is no fixed bracket, anyone is able to refuse to play anyone else. I don't want to play you? Sorry, I am unavailable during the time you want to play. Done. No game.

It's not fun as the higher TV team either. You can lose (like Chris's new human team against Luke's dwarves) which sucks. You can grind to a draw, which frustrates you because that shouldn't have happened. Or you can mangle them, in which case you come off as the school bully picking on the kindergartner.

I gotta say I take issue with the implication that Luke could have just flicked a switch and won in our game. Inducements are really powerful. Having Morg-n-Thorg really evened things up. Personally, I really enjoyed our game and saw the difference in TV as a really compelling challenge because I had to pay a heck of a lot more attention to my positioning.

I tried signing up, but the registration page won't load.

They haven't fixed that yet? Cripes! If you e-mail xtremetbber -at- gmail -dot- com he'll fix it for you (he did for me).

We need to sign up on those forums or what's the hitch?

I guess you'd need to sign up just to inform them that you had interest. Nothing subversive.

The Toilet Bowl isn't really a championship... I envisioned it as a tournament of losers.

Despite the death of two Linemen, the Ionath Krakens put forth a pretty impressive debut as a last minute playoff substitution with the veteran Morg-n-Thorg lending a hand to even the score a little. With two of the Pretty 'Uns Black Orcs in the injury box by turn 3 the Krakens were down a score shortly thereafter but poised to win the game of attrition. Mid-way through the second half the casualty hammer dropped again on the Orcs with their Ag 4 thrower sustaining a -1 Strength casualty. With the clock running down to zero, the ogres of the Krakens moved all the Orcs away from the ball. My catcher needed to make a 3+ dodge and a 3+ pick-up roll and had enough movement to trot into the end-zone. Dodge: good! Pick-up: not so good, no re-rolls left.

A valiant effort but 'twas not to be. The Krakens took solace in the fact that they at least made it an uphill battle for the Orcs next round. Definitely a fun game; see ya in the TOILET BOWL!
