A dear friend of mine from high school recently had to kick her husband out. He became so addicted to video games he completely abandoned all of his real world responsibilities. Stopped showing up to work or when he did, he was too tired to function. (He worked in sales and on commission) He completely ignored their two very young daughters. He completely drained their savings, 401k to pay for more games, monthly fees, etc.
To make matters worse, he was also a sometimes tabletop gamer.
Well luckily my friend's family is amazing and has taken her and her girls in. But now her older brother (who is also a friend of mine) thinks that gamers are all terrible people. He told me last night he planned on trashing his soon to be ex-brother in law's DnD collection. He doesn't want to sell them or give them away because "it would just be adding to further downgrade of society."
Now I'm working really hard to undo the damage one douche bag has done. I want the whole family to understand most gamers don't do that shit. Ugh
