General Discussion / Re: Grumbly Things Go Here
« on: April 12, 2010, 12:03:09 PM »
A dear friend of mine from high school recently had to kick her husband out. He became so addicted to video games he completely abandoned all of his real world responsibilities. Stopped showing up to work or when he did, he was too tired to function. (He worked in sales and on commission) He completely ignored their two very young daughters. He completely drained their savings, 401k to pay for more games, monthly fees, etc.
To make matters worse, he was also a sometimes tabletop gamer.
Well luckily my friend's family is amazing and has taken her and her girls in. But now her older brother (who is also a friend of mine) thinks that gamers are all terrible people. He told me last night he planned on trashing his soon to be ex-brother in law's DnD collection. He doesn't want to sell them or give them away because "it would just be adding to further downgrade of society."
Now I'm working really hard to undo the damage one douche bag has done. I want the whole family to understand most gamers don't do that shit. Ugh

I'm guessing it'll be in StL. Depending on time of year and what happened, I'd possibly go. Only a 10 hour drive.

We (being mostly me) love hockey. Ever since the Olympics, my little Peanut has been fascinated with hockey. Last night she put on a pair of my shoes, saying they were skates, then used her play screw driver to hit a ball around. She told me "I pay da hockey. Looka hockey"
So proud

I, too research stuff online, then buy at a store. I'm also a girl and actually enjoy shopping.

I'm having a serious case of stay home mommy blues. Although it's rewarding, it's lonely. Not getting much help from my husband. I'm trying to get Peanut in a Parents' Day out or gymnastics program. Husband seems to think it's just silly. I'm sure it doesn't help there's been at least a week straight of clouds.

General Discussion / Re: Why have I become Anti-Social on social networks

I'm ALWAYS willing to lend an ear or shoulder when some needs it. Even the occasional, I'm just whining about little things.
It's to the point where if I say anything positive about anything I get "must be nice" I've blocked her from my FB feeds and her FB feeds from my page.
And I completely understand not wanting to complain around someone having a bad time. So I just blow over things when they ask and focus on them.

I'm having problems with a friend who constantly posts pessimistic, woe is me, whiny, complaining, my life is awful posts.
Her life isn't that terrible, just chaotic.  I have NO patience for people that bitch ALL THE TIME.
It's really annoying.

Twitter is texting for voyeurs and exhibitionists.  It is pretty silly, when you really think about it. But it keeps me entertained.
I actually like Facebook. I've reconnected with a lot of friends. The games give me something to do when I can't sleep and I like looking at everyone's photos.
Could I live without them? Probably, but I don't wanna.

Long night of playing who can shove who out of the bed in their sleep with the fiance.  She won.  Today is going to be a long day.
I always win that game. One of my superpowers is taking up an entire king sized bed and all the blankets.

Get an android phone and download the Pandora app.
The options I suggested are free.  ;)
Well the phone isn't free, but the Pandora app is.
