2nd night of watch
The group had an encounter with 2 goblin Blackblades and 4 Goblin Cutters (a warmup). Group had easy time with this combat even though 1 of the Blackblades escaped.
4th day - The Jetcrab encounter
The Avenger was the only one brave enough to go out onto the sandbar. He made it all the way up to one square until he was beset by the jetcrab. He got hit by the blood spray and then tried to run but ended up stepping on another jet crab. Shockingly, the Invoker couldn't hit anything and the Paladin refused to run out onto the sandbar while two crabs were making it rain dwarf Avenger bits. Eventually, the Avenger went down and his limp body was sinking into the sand. Somehow, they damaged the crabs enough to make them flee and ended up saving the avenger after two failed death saves. This was a tense (and awesome) encounter.
Highlight: When PCs asked about the sandbar, I pulled out my horrible C3PO impression with "I don't think this asteroid is entirely stable".
5th night of watch - The Homonculus
The Invoker, who was on watch, failed to see the homonculus. Not only that, he failed the next five saves so he was worthless this whole encounter. The negotiations were short because how do you negotiate with three LG pcs? I was disappointed I wasn't able to hit the group with the 'redirect' ability. The death blow was a crit by the Avenger and it would have been sweet if the homonculus was able to redirect that. I did some significant damage to the group but I think this encounter was easier than it should have been. Also, they decided not to open the box and see what was inside.
Arriving at Northmoor - The Drake Swarm/Shark Men Encounter
Yes, they split the party and the drake swarm got 3 villagers before the Avenger and Invoker. The Paladin had an somewhat easy time with the sahaugins but they had an easy time kidnapping the Ranger. Also, they trusted the Raftman (half-orc ex-pirate) enough that they had no chance in averting the murder.
We ended the session with the reveal that the Raftman was murdered, the sahuagin had the Mentor's item and the Ranger saying, "Guys, we REALLY need to talk".
The post-game feedback was that everyone had a great time and we ended up talking about the storylines for another half hour. Can't wait for the next session to unleash the stirges upon them.
