I'm not an idiot or a masochist but I did happily take on Juriels team when it was at 1340 and had 260TV on me because I judged that to be an acceptable difference.

I remember that, and was actually going to offer to wait on that match-up once I realized that the difference was that big and so early. Takes away from winning when you win because you have more levels, rather than skill.

I don't mean any criticism against Eric but his particular team are not what I would call 'killer'

Joe's Raiders are on their way, and even Blood Royal is getting Mighty Blow on everyone that matters on the next level-up, so there is definitely the chance for harsh times there if they get brought to the next season. Let alone if they both carry onwards to their third season...

Teams can easily hit 2000 TV after 10 games. BB isn't really about 2000+ teams, IMO.

Can but most often won't. Further to that the increase of TV does slow down as you get higher, which coupled with spiralling expenses after 1750tv helps to naturally halt most teams.

Once you hit that 2000+ mark then typically I would expect the team to cut down dramatically or not return the next season.  I think there is a definite place for them in Blood Bowl but that's in a specialised league where people would then be allowed to build 1500 teams coming in.

Really I'm talking about teams in the 1400 -1750 range, who have definite advantages with skills but quite often aren't *ridiculously* good.  Anyone above that is definitely going to have trouble getting games for quite some time, which is why I think cutting down TV would be a good option.  You can still keep the core of your team to give you that edge and allow you to keep record holding players etc. but you end up compromising with rookie linemen, maybe a RR or two less.

Like I said, I don't think TV is always the best way to judge a match up anyway but one of the problems is that we haven't had a reliable system of seeing everyone's current roster.  BBM and the PC game is flawed in that regard.

This season was a bit of an aberration in that way.  I would have played Khorne's Feast the whole season.  No one was willing to play them in the regular season until late.  Same would have applied to any high TV team from last season.  Don't want experienced teams as bottom feeders in the playoffs?  Then don't say no to playing them in the regular season.

If you were a 1000 TV team and you played an 1800 TV team, would you have fun? They'd take you apart and leave your corpse on the pitch.

The right of refusal rule is poorly worded. Since there is no fixed bracket, anyone is able to refuse to play anyone else. I don't want to play you? Sorry, I am unavailable during the time you want to play. Done. No game.

It's not fun as the higher TV team either. You can lose (like Chris's new human team against Luke's dwarves) which sucks. You can grind to a draw, which frustrates you because that shouldn't have happened. Or you can mangle them, in which case you come off as the school bully picking on the kindergartner.

I gotta say I take issue with the implication that Luke could have just flicked a switch and won in our game. Inducements are really powerful. Having Morg-n-Thorg really evened things up. Personally, I really enjoyed our game and saw the difference in TV as a really compelling challenge because I had to pay a heck of a lot more attention to my positioning.
