Assassin's Creed RPG system...?
« on: February 10, 2011, 05:20:48 PM »
So, I started thinking about this while editing our AssBro review episode:

What RPG system would work best, in your opinion, to do a Assassin's Creed inspired or "in the fiction" table top RPG?

Thoughts anyone?

Hello thread Necromancy.

I'm not sure which system. But I definately want to really think about this more. But my first initial thoughts would be that you would want  to have one two different systems. One that's used for both in and outside of the Animus.

It would be an interesting game to run, definately. you'd have to make sure that whatever xp that's gained inside the animus is allowed bleed through. possibly have a sanity mechanic for out of the animus. possibly have the sanity trait determine how much xp is allowed to bleed through.

Interesting idea on the sanity bleed.  It would be a cool mechanic to link together a few different campaigns to a single character.

Perhaps you could adapt Dirty Secrets for a good chunk of what you need.  It's a game where one person is the PC, while the rest of the group plays the part of the GM.  My only experience with the game was on Story Shtick, but it sounded like a lot of fun.

I'm not sure how combat works in the system, but considering that the vast majority of combat is heavily, heavily weighted in Ezio's (or Altair's) favor anyway, that may not necessarily be a concern.  The sneaky-sneaky could also be tricky, but without knowing the system, I really can't comment on that.
Can't say more. Joe says I have to write.

Iron Heroes.  It is a low to no magic d20 system that concentrates on making combat more dynamic by allowing different combat maneuvers and includes an interesting skill grouping system that gives characters more room to increase several skills at once, which is important because they play heavily into combat maneuvers.  Basically, its D&D without worrying about the balancing factor of magic items or spells (magic is rare and... well... magical).  If you want you can include some of the D&D variant sanity system (stolen from Call of Chthulhu) and adapt it into the game.

Plus, there's already an assassin core class which is nice.
